The Combined Authority is a new organisation, established in 2017, with a vision to make Cambridgeshire & Peterborough the leading place in the world to learn, live and work.  Areas we are looking to build on include doubling the size of the local economy, accelerating house building rates and delivering outstanding connectivity in regards transports and digital.

Instrumental to helping deliver this is the Director of Finance, a member of the Executive Team, who will provide strategic financial advice to the Board and any subsidiary company, including new borrowing powers, financial models and commercial undertakings. They will also work in partnership with executive directors responsible for Transport, Housing and Business & Skills to understand their priorities against the political agenda as developed by the Combined Authority’s devolution deal.

The role will lead on securing investment to the region to finance all approved strategic investment programmes as well as ensuring sound Treasury and Investment Fund Management, including a capital strategy.


To be suitable for the role you need to be a motivated and highly adaptable qualified accountant, with strong influencing skills and the ability to work in a politically sensitive environment.  Having a proven track record of successful fund management and advising on creative investment opportunities in an organisation of comparable scope and complexity is essential.  There is a genuine appetite to attract candidates from a variety of sectors, as well as those candidates looking to take on their first Board level role.
