Business Partner (Finance)
It’s an exciting time to join Camden’s Finance service. Following our accreditation as a CIPFA Platinum Employer, we are seeking an innovative, highly skilled individual to work in our business partnering service and contribute to the implementation of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy and the development of our new Capital Strategy. You will help drive our outcomes-based budgeting approach and deliver the best use of resources for the people of Camden.
We are seeking a Business Partner to lead on the delivery of financial support within a specific division(s), delivering sound financial advice on all matters within that area and those that cut across directorates. You will have overall responsibility for financial planning, management accounting and the coordination of financial arrangements for the given area across both revenue and capital finance, as well as leading on any allocated areas that cut across services. You will report to a Head of Finance but work closely with the service Director and Heads of Service, so relationship-building skills are essential. You will line manage a management accounting officer.
Alongside this, you will maintain an engaging and proactive relationship with key stakeholders across the business and contribute to the design, production and implementation of projects to achieve MTFS efficiencies. You will play a key role in delivering an integrated approach to the development of financial strategy across all council services.
To be considered for this role you must be CCAB (or equivalent) qualified and demonstrate your ability to build excellent relationships, effectively managing and engaging relevant officers with their financial governance.
You will have strong influencing and negotiating skills, with a good understanding of local government finance and financial techniques such as budgeting, monitoring, closing and options appraisal.
You will be able to effectively communicate complex financial issues in a clear and accessible manner, confidently dealing with elected member and other senior officers.
