We are currently seeking applications for Social Security Finance Managers within the Social Security Directorate based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.

This post will form a key part of the Social Security Directorate's Finance team, part of which will become an agency finance function delivering corporate and operational financial services for the agency delivering Scotland's new social security role. The finance team is currently responsible for delivery of a professional accounting and financial management, reporting and delivery service to the Social Security Directorate and Social Security Scotland.

Qualifications Required

Professionally qualified accountant (or exam qualified) – CCAB professional accountancy body or equivalent with up to date CPD (candidates who have one exam remaining before becoming exam qualified will be considered).


Essential Criteria

  1. Excellent understanding and experience of implementing, improving and operating financial management and reporting processes, with excellent technical accounting skill.
  2. Proven ability to work on your own initiative, coping with the demands of a fast paced challenging environment where opportunities need to be quickly realised, whilst managing competing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met.
  3. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to explain financial information effectively to both finance and non-finance professionals.
  4. Effective people management skills. Must be credible with staff, creating conditions to build confident and effective teams that empower, value, develop and motivate people.
