Join the team that’s helping the Met to maximise its income

The Met’s Commercial Directorate aims to be trusted advisor to the organisation, providing the highest standard of commercial services. As a Financial Technician, you’ll help the team to achieve this goal in a new and interesting role.

The Third Party Contracts and Revenue team helps the Met to optimise the revenue it generates through providing policing services, obtaining grants and sponsorship, managing our Intellectual Property and recovering costs for the provision of discretionary and ad hoc services. Your main challenge will be to manage the systems and processes that support the financial management of third party agreements. This involves tackling a wide range of tasks, from raising invoices and updating our database of local authority agreements, to calculating charges related to funded personnel and submitting relevant details.

You’ll be working with Finance Business Partners, Business Groups and Third Parties on a daily basis, so it’s an opportunity to answer queries, build links and become a valued contact. As this is a newly created post, there’ll also be the opportunity to shape the role as you progress.

Commercially sharp, you’ll be aware of financial systems and processes. Ideally, you’ve implemented contracts before including charges and services. However, it’s more important that you can express yourself well, both on paper and in person. A clear communicator and natural problem solver, you’ll enjoy teamwork and managing relationships.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role specific information pack. Applications will be via a detailed CV, Personal Statement and online application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 7th January 2019.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
