In 1946, Stevenage was designated as the UK’s first New Town. Then in 1959, the Queen officially opened our pedestrianised town centre – another first for the country. This was revolutionary. At the time. But it’s now dated. Which is why we’re embarking on an innovative, £350 million town centre redevelopment scheme, as well as a bold and ambitious cultural strategy. And through our “Future Town Future Council” vision, we’re working with our communities to improve their quality of life.

To help us achieve our ambitions, we’re looking for a Finance Business Partner (Housing and Investment). It’s an exciting opportunity to have a major impact on the local area, becoming the financial expert for our Housing Revenue Account (HRA) portfolio. In fact, you’ll develop our 30-year HRA business plan, making sure we can resource our housing priorities. Providing effective, high-quality financial solutions to the rest of the council will also be your responsibility. And by working with the Assistant Directors of Housing and Investment and Housing Development, you’ll drive forward our ambitious plans to provide new homes, improve existing stock, and deliver high-quality housing to our tenants.

Your role in building the Stevenage of tomorrow will be vital. So you’ll need to be CCAB qualified, and have the financial skills equal to a qualified accountant. This includes being able to provide calculated forecasts for a variety of areas such as Rent Setting formulas. You’ll also have experience of working within an accountancy or finance environment, giving you a background in budget setting and monitoring, as well as the closure of accounts. And you’ll have solved complex problems by implementing innovation and creative thinking.
