Group Accountant (Capital and Treasury)
In 1946, Stevenage was designated as the UK’s first New Town. Then in 1959, the Queen officially opened our pedestrianised town centre – another first for the country. This was revolutionary. At the time. But it’s now dated. Which is why we’re embarking on an innovative, £350 million town centre redevelopment scheme, as well as a bold and ambitious cultural strategy. And through our “Future Town Future Council” vision, we’re working with our communities to improve their quality of life.
To help us achieve our ambitions, we’re looking for a Group Accountant (Capital and Treasury). Working with key stakeholders across the council, you’ll drive our capital investment programme and treasury management strategy forward. This will see you support and implement our strategy, which includes our innovative Regeneration Programme, and our Digital Transformation and Housing Delivery agendas. You’ll also provide effective, high-quality financial advice, and make sure innovative funding solutions are implemented across both our General Fund and Housing Revenue Account.
To join us, it’s vital that you’re CCAB qualified and have either Capital or Treasury management experience. In fact, you’ll bring expert knowledge of current recommended practice such as Prudential Code, Capital accounting standards, and CIPFA Code. You’ll also need a history of setting direction, engaging people and using innovative and creative approaches to deliver results. A confident leader, you know how to communicate with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm. In fact, you can inspire confidence and commitment from service users, helping them to fulfil their financial management responsibilities.
In return, you’ll get a chance to leave your mark on our progressive Borough. Not only that, you’ll have access to continuous professional and leadership development opportunities, and the benefits to support a healthy work-life balance.
