The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who work together in a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs.

You’ll be part of an innovative service model providing financial support to service departments from the corporate centre in a team representing the Section 151 officer. You’ll be key to ensuring spend is in line with the Councils’ spending priorities and accounting policies, setting and monitoring budgets as well as reviewing the financial impact of new service proposals, advising senior officers on options.

This is a tough yet exciting strategic finance role. It requires an impressive mix of technical and management accounting skills, intellectual agility and a positive, empathetic approach. Quickly gaining respect for your judgement and the support you give teams in their decision-making, you’ll working well with your colleagues to deliver the best possible financial outcomes.

These posts sit within the corporate centre, supporting service departments, and whilst experience dealing with departmental finance issues isn’t essential, it’ll be put to good use if you have it. What’s more important is that you’re CCAB qualified, have experience within local government and, most of all, are an ambitious professional, ready to seize the development opportunities offered by this role.
