West Lindsey District Council is changing and innovating. Driven by a commercial approach to tackling the challenges raised through austerity, and with a Financial Strategy to become financially self-sufficient whilst enabling and supporting continued investment in the District.
We will achieve this through;
- Generating income from council services through charging, trading and investment
- Securing external funding and working in partnership to support investment in our communities
- Increase capital and revenue returns for the council through investment in housing and economic growth
- Enhancing the council’s commercial culture and capability
Due to the promotion of internal staff, we are now looking to appoint a proactive, analytical and innovative person to fulfil a Principal Accountant Technical and Systems post to help deliver these priorities.
We are in the process of changing/improving our financial systems, therefore this role needs a forward thinking individual with the ability to ‘think outside the box’. It will require the development of new and efficient finance systems to improve the end user experience across the Council.
The post holder will also work on year-end accounts, business cases/projects and will be responsible for the management of the system based exchequer functions. You will mentor junior members of staff. It is a varied role that will give you bespoke skills, exposure and responsibility to enable progression within the Council and in your finance career.
The successful candidate will be motivated by change, willing to learn and challenge, confident in their skills, self-starting with the ability to make complex information clear and understandable. You will thrive on variety and adding value.
The role will report directly to the Corporate Accountant Team Leader but will be expected to make a significant contribution to delivering the Council’s financial processes across the whole Finance Team.
We are a solution focused and results orientated finance team with a passion for change and improvement, if you would like to join us, please visit our website for a full Job Description and Person Specification.
