We are now seeking to recruit an experienced CCAB qualified accountant to lead the Union’s Finance Team. The Head of Finance will ensure the smooth efficient running of the finance team with responsibility for all aspects of statutory reporting, management accounting, business partnering, budgeting and forecasting. As Head of Finance you will oversee the third party administration of the staff pension scheme, payroll, purchasing, charging for the Unions’ commercial activities and have responsibility for overseeing the Union’s investment policies.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant who is able to advise the Assistant General Secretary for Business Services, other senior leadership colleagues and the Union’s Executive on all financial matters. You must be able to demonstrate a successful professional track record with proven experience of leading and managing a finance function in a large organisation. You will have two direct reports and overall responsibility for a further eleven staff.
The post is ideally suited to a well-motivated professional with sound strategic management experience. You will have good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as being supportive of the aims of the trade union movement.
We offer good conditions including a commencing salary of £68,010 pa (inclusive of London and luncheon allowance), 33 days annual leave plus 3 days paid holiday entitlement as the NEU office closure days at Christmas and a final salary pension scheme.
