Financial Accountant - Local Government
Allen Lane are pleased to be working with a Local Authority to recruit an interim Financial Accountant to join their central finance department. The initial priority for the successful candidate will be to prepare a timetable and the necessary processes for next year’s closedown
This position will require a technical skilled Accountant with previous experience in local government or a similar public sector setting. This coupled with versatility to get involved across different tasks within the team when required
As such, key objectives include;
- Production of the annual accounts in compliance with standards and leading on management of year end audit process
- Provide advice and assistance throughout the department on best practice in taxation matters
- Ensure monthly production of trial balance and balance sheets
- Monitor and review existing finance systems and processes to ensure that they are effective.
This is a great role for a CCAB qualified Accountant with substantial experience producing financial statements previously. The ability to explain complex financial terms to non-financial colleagues will be very important and managing stakeholder expectations will be key. Initially, there will be no direct staff management but this may change as the role progresses.
