Head of Finance

£60-65,000 plus benefits

Central London

The Royal Albert Hall is seeking a new Head of Finance to report to the Director of Finance and Admin and be a member of the Hall’s Leadership Team. The role will oversee a team of nine and provide financial leadership to the Executive Board, Leadership Team and budget-holders. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven Head of Finance or a progressive candidate (possessing strength in financial planning and analysis) with a genuine passion for the work of the Royal Albert Hall.

Over 1.7 million people enjoy live experiences at the Royal Albert Hall every year, with millions more experiencing events through broadcasts, recordings and new media channels.  This is an exciting time to join during a period of transformation, capital projects and change.

Summary of Role:

  • Financial leadership to the Hall’s Executive Board, Leadership team and  budget-holders
  • Financial risk management
  • Leadership, management and development of the Finance team
  • Improvements to management reporting and timely provision and communication of accurate management information and advice
  • Manage the annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes
  • Balance sheet & financial process review and control
  • Annual statutory accounts, audit and compliance
  • Systems development
  • Management of a range of internal and external stakeholders including external and internal auditors, Council members, Finance and Fabric sub committees of Council, concert promoters

Experience & qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant (preferably CIMA, ACCA or ACA) with, ideally, at least 5 years post qualification
  • Previous roles must demonstrate significant exposure to financial control, management accounting and budgeting, and  elements of commercial analysis and decision-making
  • Previous roles must have included the responsibility for managing a team
  • Strong Excel skills, quick to learn new software applications, affinity with the logical structure of databases and able to see beyond apparent technology limitations
