Finance Business Partner (4 year FTA)

Maritime and Coastguard Agency

£37,428 - £41,173 per annum

Ref: 1592331

Are you a positive, confident and diligent individual?

Do you love to work collaboratively with others, providing your financial management expertise when needed?

If so, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) would love to hear from you.

We are on the lookout for someone who is able to expertly communicate and influence but also has superb experience at managing finances. This role supports a major programme within MCA, Radio Network Infrastructure Replacement (RNIR).

We will look to you to provide professional financial support and sound advice to the RNIR Programme Team. This role is responsible for ensuring robust management and control exists over the life of the programme.

We believe this is a super opportunity for someone from a financial background to contribute to an unusual, major and high-profile project. You will get to build relationships across not only the immediate business but also wider government and industry.

We would love someone who has all the technical capability but we are also keen to find someone with superb interpersonal skills as this role works across functions.

As part of the role, your responsibilities will include:

• providing input to the investment appraisal of the project and related projects. This may include cost estimating, affordability, financial management, cost apportionment and providing advice on accounting treatments
• undertaking corporate reporting for the project including preparation of business cases and ministerial submissions
• preparing briefings for the MCA Executive Committee and Executive Board in conjunction with the Finance team
• contributing to risk management planning
• assisting in the financial management of all aspects of MCA/DfT/Cabinet Office liaison for RNIR, including securing programme and project approvals
• liaising regularly with MCA Finance, DfT Finance and DfT ISE on programme progress, project planning and risk issues as required
• supporting the relevant budget holders in preparing sensible, justified, detailed budget bids
• preparing programme and capital monthly forecasts of in-year expenditure and longer-term funding projections as required

For more information please see the attached Role Profile.

Do you hold a CCAB/CIMA qualification (part or fully qualified) and have significant relevant work experience?

Are you passionate about building strong and successful working relationships?

We would encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity if the above sounds like you.

We require someone that can work effectively with others at all levels so the ability to adapt your communication style dependent on the audience is essential.

As with any project focused role, you may need to deliver difficult messages to key people at times, therefore we are looking for an individual who can show empathy, insight and confidence in these situations.

As you will be playing an active role in the programme, there will be regular travel between London and Southampton, and occasionally to MCA sites around the UK.

Closing date: 22 August 2018.
