Senior Service Charge Accountant
Hammersmith & Fulham Council is aiming to be the best local authority in London.
We very much want to hear from people with the skills to join a best-in-class professional financial support service for the Council’s Growth & Place department.
This key role will report to the Finance Manager and you will be responsible for the calculation and preparation of service charge invoices and estimated service charge summaries for the Council’s 4,800-plus leaseholders, with responsibility for billing charges of circa £6.9m per annum. You will also lead on liaising, coordinating and assessing the service charge information obtained from other departments within the Council, ensuring that the preparation of service charges is in accordance with the lease and relevant legislation. Communication within and outside of the team will also be critical and the successful candidate must have the ability to spot potential issues and to address them, communicating with others effectively so that problems are dealt with quickly and effectively. At all times, you must provide excellent customer service to all customers.
You will ideally be either a part-qualified accountant or have significant experience of working on leasehold service charge accounts. You are likely to have worked with a large residential leasehold portfolio in a mixed tenure environment. The successful candidate will be committed to continual improvement and excellent customer service, will be a confident and effective communicator and will also possess the ability to manage workloads in a fast-moving environment.
