Director of Finance
Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Homerton) provides first-class hospital and community services, incorporating teaching and research, to Hackney and surrounding localities. The Trust employs c. 3800 staff, primarily located at the main hospital site, and operates at over 40 other locations across the community. Its total operating revenue for 2017/18 was c. £300m, which includes both acute and community services, the latter being merged with the Homerton in 2011 from City and Hackney PCT. Homerton is a part of the UCL Partners, one of the five academic health science partnerships in England and is a member of the QUEST Network, which focuses on benchmarking and improving quality within organisations.
Reporting into the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance has overall responsibility for the financial management, financial control environment and strategic planning and decision-making of the organisation. The post holder will provide professional leadership and direction to the finance directorate, procurement, and income and contracting functions of the trust; provide informed expert financial advice to the trust board; and build close relationships with trust commissioners, regulators and other partner organisations.
The successful candidate must be a robust, credible, professionally qualified accountant with exemplary leadership skills, high standards and strong attention to detail. You must be a naturally strategic thinker, and a robust, clear communicator to enable you to build effective relationships and influence challenging individuals at all levels, in and out of the organisation. Your significant post-qualification experience will have been gained within a large, complex and public sector organisation as either an experienced Deputy Director, or an existing board level Director of Finance. Having experience of overseeing multiple functions would be advantageous.
