We are building on our solid financial management to ensure that we meet the financial and non-financial challenges currently affecting local government. We expect the post-holder to provide excellent support and robust challenge to the Council to ensure the highest level of service provision.

Reporting to the Head of Policy & Resources (S151 Officer), and based in the Policy & Resources service, you will be responsible for leading, developing and motivating a team of six. We expect you to be a CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant with a history of successful people management and outstanding communication skills. You will provide high quality financial support to the Head of Policy & Resources and the senior management team and will work with senior colleagues on high profile corporate projects to help the Council achieve its priority outcomes. An appreciation of the changes facing local government finance will be supported by your ability to report financial information clearly.

In this pivotal role, you will lead alongside your equivalent Accountancy Manager in all aspects of the finance service for the Council, including the production of budget monitoring reports, closure of accounts as well as budget setting and financial planning
