About the role

CQC are looking for a Cost Accounting Analyst to join the finance team on a fixed term basis. Reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager, you will be a key member of the team, supporting the assessment of CQC’s overall operating model and understanding costs in relation to CQC’s core activities, the Fees Scheme and other analysis that is appropriate.

With responsibility for the maintenance and refining of CQC’s financial model that allows the analysis of CQC’s future Income and Expenditure over a Five Year Period, and responsibility for maintaining and refining CQC’s costing model, providing analysis on the findings as part of reporting to key stakeholders. This role is key to enabling CQC to assess past, present and future financial performance as well as managing financial risk.

The role will be integral to the continuous development of the financial management function, working closely with the rest of the team to create or enhance existing systems and tools.

About you

A qualified accountant, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a finance function preferably within a public sector environment.  A confident communicator, with a flair for relationship building, you will be skilled in managing your stakeholders.

You’re highly analytical and IT literate with experience of creating and maintaining financial models and leading on financial projects. Excellent IT skills, including using Microsoft Office will be a key driver for your succession in this role.

Depending upon business needs there may be the potential for this to become a permanent role in the future.
