As a management accountant, you will lead a team of officers to deliver a strategic, customer-focussed finance service that provides exceptional advice, information and analysis to the most senior officers and cabinet members. You will be accountable for all aspects of operational financial management; developing robust financial forecasts and budget plans that reflect and inform our strategic objectives. Alongside ensuring all finances are aligned with the appropriate regulations, you will be a strategic advisor, understanding customer needs and building relationships that enable you to influence and challenge senior leaders’ thinking. This is an opportunity to truly shape the work we do and leverage your financial knowledge to build and refine systems that allow us to improve future budget plans for services ensuring they reflect operational and strategic objectives.
You will need to be qualified to CCAB level and be able to demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and your expertise in relevant areas. A deep understanding of financial management in a large organisation is essential, but crucially, you will have a track record of applying your knowledge to deliver tangible improvements in a financial setting, preferably in the public sector. You will draw on your experience to evaluate and support innovative and effective means of financing the delivery of large-scale services. You will also need to be a natural collaborator, able to lead and manage teams effectively and provide financial advice and support to senior leaders.
