Schools Funding Accountant
An great opportunity for a professional contractor with strong recent, exposure to the management of schools funding on behalf of a Local Authority. The right candidate will be joining a committed and hard-working tam during one of the busiest periods of the year, and will make a genuine difference to the schools of the area and the finance team as a whole.
With the grants from DfE and the rules and regulations on schools funding changing annually, the detail of education accounting is complex and needs constant adjustment and monitoring. The extra pressures of year end add to the challenge for Council Education finance departments, and it’s not unusual for teams to need extra help in the run up to close down. Beyond that, this team will benefit hugely from the experience and support of a committed and experienced finance expert to continue to improve day to day financial management.
As well as the continued assessment of funding and management of allocations, the role will involve work directly with Head Teachers and Schools Forum, so you will need good communication and influencing skills to go with your technical finance ability. As part of year end you’ll get involved in the closing of accounts and ensuring that the ledgers ae accurate and up to date.
While the initial duration is 3-6 months, the authority has often found extra work or extensions for good contractors, so there is significant potential for stability and longevity in the contract. If you want to bring your education funding experience to a focused but enjoyable working environment and want a role which will keep you busy and challenged for some time, please apply with a CV and covering note today. The rate on offer will be commensurate with the level of experience you can bring to the role.
