Head of Financial Strategy and Reporting / Head of Financial Engagement and Advice
Grade 11 - £62,829 - £75,420 per annum (£79,191 unconsolidated maximum, achievable through performance-related progression)
Full-time, 36 hours per week
Location - Sutton Civic Offices and Kingston Guildhall Offices
In April 2017 the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston launched an exciting new Shared Finance Service. About the roles
This Head of Financial Strategy and Reporting role is one of two posts leading the Financial Strategy and Reporting section of the Shared Finance Service. It is a senior management post with responsibility for leading all aspects of financial strategy and planning, as well as financial reporting, for the London Borough of Sutton. Whilst the main focus of the role is to support Financial Strategy and Reporting for Sutton you will also be required to work across both Kingston and Sutton.
The Head of Financial Engagement and Advice role is one of two posts leading the Finance Engagement and Advice section of the Shared Finance Service. It is a senior management post with responsibility for leading a team of Finance Business Partners who support Kingston and Sutton Councils in all areas of financial management.
The postholder will lead on the development within the Shared Finance Service of a consistently high quality focused approach to delivering useful business insights and advice that enable both Councils to achieve success.
Both roles will have management responsibility for a number of posts working across Kingston and Sutton Councils and will be required to work with other senior leaders across both Councils too. Both roles will therefore require the postholder to operate across both Kingston and Sutton locations.

services despite the financial challenges facing the sector.
For the Head of Financial Strategy and Reporting role you will be experienced in making a significant contribution to financial strategy and planning in a similar sized organisation, and confident in your ability to provide strong and inspiring leadership to staff of all levels. You will be comfortable supporting and advising political leaders, and helping shape strategy at a corporate level.
For the Head of Financial Engagement and Advice role you will be experienced in providing high quality financial business partnering, challenging and supporting front-line services to deliver excellent services whilst managing significant financial pressures, and be confident in your ability to provide strong and inspiring leadership to staff of all levels. You will be comfortable supporting and advising political leaders, and helping shape strategy at a corporate level.
Both roles provide an excellent opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career and is keen to gain strategic experience in preparation for a future S151 role. The post-holders for both roles will be required to act as deputy S151 officer for either Council as required, whilst benefiting from the large range of development opportunities that only a shared service can provide.
