Allen Lane is recruiting a Capital Accountant for a Local Authority based in North West London. This interim role covers all aspects of the authority’s capital programme including capital budget, budget monitoring and closure of the council’s capital accounts.
You will provide a professional, high quality and responsive finance service that supports and promotes efficient and effective service delivery in line with the council's objectives and priorities and those of the Council's s151 Officer. You will promote sound financial management and control, and practices that comply with the Council's Constitution including Financial Regulations, Accounting Codes of Practice and all relevant legislation guidance.
As such, key responsibilities include;
- To take a lead on the provision of management accounting support for the council’s capital programme.
- To have understanding and knowledge of, and report, the financial position, including risks/pressures.
- To work with managers and budget holders to ensure they have the information, tools and skills necessary to manage their finances themselves and understand the finances of their business better
- To work collaboratively with the Heads of Finance, Revenues and Benefits lead, Head of Procurement, Analyst, Finance Operations, Chief Internal Auditor and the Head of Treasury to ensure Departments get financial support and information as required to close the accounts and produce the financial statements.
