NHS Property Services is a commercial property organisation which brings property and facilities management expertise to the NHS estate.  They operate across the whole of the UK and aim to create a more cost-efficient and fit for purpose NHS during a time when there is an increasing demand and pressure on the sector.

It is an exciting time to be joining NHS Property Services, with the organisation recently having gone through a major realignment.  A new and dynamic team is beginning to take shape, led by a senior management team of key players from within the banking, consultancy and commercial sectors.  The organisation is now committed, more than it ever was, to supporting the development of employee’s skills and commerciality.

The organisation is currently looking for a Senior Financial Accountant, who will support the Head of Finance in working to produce the annual accounts and look after the balance sheet.    

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and preparing the balance sheet control accounts reconciliations;
  • Producing the annual accounts;
  • Improving internal control procedures and processes;
  • Liaising with external and internal auditors regarding year end accounts and system procedure and process;
  • Producing year-end timetable and communicating and co-ordinating the timetable with all zonal finance staff.

The successful applicant will be a newly-qualified CCAB Accountant or with one to two years post-qualified experience.  You will ideally come from one of the Top 10 Audit Practice within the UK, but may come have also worked across Practice and Commercial sectors.  Applicants will have excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills and will demonstrate credibility when liaising with senior managerial and clinical staff.  You will also be have an internal control and process-driven mind-set, where you are inquisitive enough to be keen to make improvements and changes.  Your attention to detail and your verbal and written communication skills will be outstanding and you will be able to convey complex finance information to non-finance managers.  Finally, you will be able to adapt readily and respond constructively to change.
