Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough and one of the capital’s most popular places to live, work and visit. Stretching from the edge of the city to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth particularly in the media, fashion, technological and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, first class transport connections combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector.

The challenge for Hackney is to make sure that the borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, whilst also creating opportunities that will transform the lives of local people. We know that staff are key to our success and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our corporate values to help us achieve the best for the people of Hackney. In the face of unprecedented budgetary demands we need financial leaders of the future to help us tackle our challenges head on so that we can continue to provide the services our residents rely on.

As a Service Accountant for Central Services, you will be part of a client focused and proactive management accounting function that provides high quality and informed financial advice that will support operational decision making.

You will be responsible for managing the annual budget cycle (budget setting, budget monitoring and closing of accounts) with the services you support. You will build strong working relationships across the authority and with external stakeholders, and you will need the financial expertise to work in accordance with necessary accounting and legislative guidelines.
