The Scouts Association are a charity and the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation; they offer challenging activities, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that a positive impact can be made within the community.  The Association also offers an award-winning training scheme for adult volunteers to ensure that everything the organisation wants to achieve can be possible.  

The organisation is currently looking for a Business Partner – Systems Accountant who can oversee and maintain the financial systems of the charity and it’s two subsidiary group organisations, prepare the statutory accounts and assist in the business partnering process for some key business units.   The role will also have the support of two direct reports.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the review of the current Sun software and processes with the objective of transformational changes in the way they can record, document, account, report and analyse the finances;
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual statutory accounts and meeting external audit requirements;
  • Providing support, advice and guidance to budget holder managers enabling them to understand their financial responsibilities and make decisions based on their financial management information;
  • Supporting budget holders with monthly forecasting.

The successful applicant will ideally be a Qualified Accountant and hold an in-depth knowledge and understanding of computerised accounting systems and reporting.  You will ideally come from the Charity sector, but may also come from the wider public sector or commercial sector.  You should be an innovative and creative thinker with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage a portfolio of diverse projects.  The candidate will also be an excellent communicator and be able to ensure genuine engagement with internal and external stakeholders.  Finally, applicants will demonstrate team working and leadership qualities.
