Enfield Council is one London’s leading local authorities combining a diverse and modern suburban location with excellent travel links into Central London and neighbouring counties. Consistently putting our residents at the heart of our operations, Enfield sets the benchmark in ensuring we provide best-in-class services to our local community. Our finance department is central in this endeavour. We have recently consolidated our finance functions from across the local authority into a single Finance, Exchequer and Data Hub to promote modern and professional working practices. This Hub covers four teams: 

  • Capital and Projects (Mainstream and Projects including the market leading Meridian Water Programme)
  • Budget Challenge (Children’s and Environments)
  • Pensions
  • Corporate Finance

As a result of this restructure, Enfield is now seeking two new Senior Finance Officers to provide essential support delivered from our centralised Finance Hub.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing high quality and comprehensive finance support across the Council, drawing on technical expertise, knowledge and experience to add value, lead on the resolution of challenges and drive process improvements across our Finance Hub. You will also provide high level financial support and the administration of schools funding arrangements.

As senior members of the team you will actively contribute to the smooth running of the service to coach and develop colleagues to help raise standards and productivity, which may require flexibility in working across teams.  As owners of specific finance activities, Senior Finance Officers ensure processes are delivered in a consistent, standardised and efficient manner. Senior Finance Officers will be the first point of contact for service enquiries and will provide direct support to Finance Managers.

The successful candidate will be:

Experienced in leading change and driving through efficiency initiatives. You will have performed a comparable finance related role in a local authority environment delivering high quality services. You will be an excellent communicator and be comfortable working with stakeholders from across the Council. Possessing excellent IT/Technical skills, you will be highly numerate and have advanced organisational skills and attention to detail.
