Are you an ambitious and exciting Finance Manager seeking a new opportunity?

Enfield Council is one London’s leading local authorities combining a diverse and modern suburban location with excellent travel links into Central London and neighbouring counties. Consistently putting our residents at the heart of our operations, Enfield sets the benchmark in ensuring we provide best-in-class services to our local community. Our finance department is central in this endeavour. We have recently consolidated our finance functions from across the local authority into a single Finance, Exchequer and Data Hub to promote modern and professional working practices. This Hub covers four finance teams: 

  • Capital and Projects (Capital / Asset accounting and Projects including the market leading Meridian Water Programme)
  • Budget Challenge (All services including Children’s and Environment)
  • Pensions
  • Corporate Finance

As a result of this restructure, Enfield is now seeking four new Finance Managers; two within the Capital & Projects Team and two within the Budget Challenge Team.

Key responsibilities across all roles:

You will combine line management responsibilities with your proven technical expertise to ensure the smooth running and success of the Finance Hub. Additionally, you will represent the key workings and outputs of the Hub to senior management across the Council as well as the elected members.

The successful candidate will be:

CCAB accredited, you will use your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide leadership to your dedicated team. With proven finance experience working within Local Authorities, you will use your knowledge to liaise and convince influential stakeholders to drive through institutional change. Crucially, you will need to demonstrate highly developed financial and commercial acumen in the achievement of strategic procurement and commercial objectives.

Specifically for the Finance Manager (Projects) post, you need to show proven accounting expertise including financial modelling.

For the Finance Manager (Capital) post you will need show demonstrable experience of capital/asset accounting, funding and the application of the relevant accounting standards to new capital projects. You will also be experienced in the accurate and timely preparation of year end capital statements and maintenance of the Asset Register.

For the Finance Manager (Budget Challenge) posts, you will demonstrate experience of working in a Business Partnering model as a strategic partner alongside key stakeholders providing sound financial advice specific to your area. Prior experience of working in Children’s or Environments settings is desirable.
