Stroke is the leading cause of disability and one of the biggest killers in the UK each year. The staggering truth is that the majority of these strokes are preventable. It is this that drives us to achieve our bold and clear vision of a world where stroke becomes a diminishing condition and all those who are affected by the disability and disruption it causes to their lives receive the best possible help and support.

We have valiantly led the fight against stroke for over 20 years and achieved so much through our tireless work in influencing and campaigning to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. We fund world-class research to develop new treatments and ways to prevent the devastation of stroke and it is heartening that breakthroughs in treatment have halved the number of people dying from stroke in the UK.

Under our new Chief Executive, we are committed to achieving so much more through a dynamic new strategy and ambitious plans for growth. Essential to achieving our success is the role of Executive Director, Finance & Resources who will ensure a strong financial position through this period of growth at the Stroke Association.

As a key member of the Executive Board, you will lead on embedding a culture of creativity and innovation within the Finance Directorate as well as the wider organisation, working across all business functions and areas of operation. In particular you will work closely with the Executive Director for Income Generation to achieve our strategic aim of doubling our income by 2025.

A role of this importance needs an outstanding individual with the passion and vision to drive change within an organisation through, for example, the implementation of finance or IT infrastructure or systems that build economies of scale, maximise resource efficiency and enhance our impact for stroke survivors.

You will demonstrate significant experience of financial management in a capacity as Chief Financial Officer, Financial Director or equivalent, with a good understanding of public sector financial structures and financial management. Some experience of a commercial environment will also be considered favourably.
