Applications are welcomed for the post of Chief Accountant, responsible for the management of the Accountancy Division with specific operational responsibility for the annual closure of accounts process.
Head an Accountancy Division of 18 employees ensuring that the statutory budget setting, best practice budgetary monitoring and statutory closure of accounts procedures are performed in a timely manner complying with statutory deadlines. Direct operational responsibility for the closure of accounts process and will act as Deputy S151 Officer.
Ensuring compliance with statutory accounting regulations within recognised defined timescales whilst adhering to best accounting working practices.
Continuous development and improvement of the Accountancy function whilst adapting to an ever-changing Local Government environment.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer the post will, when required, deputise for the Chief Finance Officer as Deputy Section 151 Officer under the Local Government Act 1972.
Responsibility for the preparation and delivery of the Accountancy Division’s annual Strategic and Operational Plans, including quarterly attendance and presentation at the Chief Executive’s Scrutiny Committee.
