Further information

Bedford Borough Council takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide to our community are first class. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that’s enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees. In return we expect our employees to work hard and be committed to help us achieve our vision and share our values.

Reporting to our Group Accountant (Service Monitoring and Compliance), you’ll critically (and thoroughly) examine every Council function to ensure that we’re delivering our services cost-effectively and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in developing our ‘Value for Money’ strategy, ensuring that robust processes are embedded throughout the organisation. Added to that, you’ll carry out service and efficiency reviews to promote fresh ideas and continuous improvement.

Newly CCAB-qualified (or an AAT Member with three years’ post-qualified experience), you’ll have a strong track record in a large and complex organisation. In particular, you can demonstrate skill in carrying out efficiency reviews, project finance and interpreting (and resolving) challenging business problems. An excellent communicator, you can match professionalism and resource management, with a strong commitment to working with key stakeholders.
