Salary Grade 12 - £38,961 - £41,616

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Finance & Assurance Manager within the
Management Accountancy & Assurance team in the Finance & Assets Department. We are looking to appoint a high calibre candidate with specific experience and knowledge of education finance. The post will also cover other areas including the Environment Department so a wider understanding of Council service areas would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be a confident and motivated individual who can help drive through a current restructure of the service and become part of a fast changing team.
The post holder should be a CCAB qualified accountant with at least 2 years post qualifying experience. He/she will manage a team of staff who support various services and/or corporate budgets, some of whom will work flexibly between the Ruthin office and various service locations throughout the county.
The successful candidate will need to manage, motivate and train staff within the team and also be able to communicate effectively with senior managers, elected members, committees/boards and external organisations in a professional manner. He/she will be expected to analyse, understand and where necessary challenge financial issues and key business decisions and have input into the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan. A key role will be to review and challenge service budgets in relation to the Council’s reducing future financial settlements. In addition the post holder will be expected to deputise for the Chief Accountant as and when required.
