Birmingham City Council is a large complex organisation with an annual gross revenue budget of £3.5bn and a 3 year capital programme of £1.1bn. The Council delivers its services and projects through a range of business models and partners. You will lead on taxation policies, strategies and practices across the Council’s activities, undertaking regular taxation risk reviews, whilst ensuring that the Council has robust, accurate and compliant processes in relation to taxation. You will also ensure that it pays the right tax at the right time.
You must have an in depth and up to date knowledge of taxation issues and be able to proactively develop and take responsibility for the planning and delivery of a programme of work, whilst working with a range of stakeholders, including HMRC. CCAB/Chartered Tax Advisor or equivalent qualification is essential.
