If you are interested in politics and are a qualified accountant, value for money auditor, or have substantial experience working with financial and performance information, then this role could be for you.
The London Assembly’s Scrutiny and Investigations team is looking for a new budget and performance adviser to provide financial and analytical support to the Assembly and its committees.
You will work across political parties, providing impartial advice and analysis to help the London Assembly hold the Mayor to account for more than £14 billion of public expenditure by the Greater London Authority group on key services such as transport, policing, housing and regeneration. Your work will inform the reports published by the Assembly on these key issues.
You’ll have significant experience and understanding of carrying out analysis of budgets and performance information and an accountancy qualification or equivalent experience. In addition to this, you’ll have the experience and ability to manage large data sets, analyse statistical trends, and present robust conclusions to a non-technical audience.
We are looking for a bright self-starter who will thrive in a complex political environment, quickly win the trust and confidence of politicians from different political parties and establish effective working relationships with colleagues across the GLA group of organisations. It may be of particular interest to a recently qualified accountant or auditor who is looking to broaden their experience. We will consider applications on a secondment basis for two years or more, or a permanent basis.
