DEPUTY CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
Salary range £54,858 - £58,770 + PrP + final salary pension scheme, with potential for further progression up to a maximum of £74,310 + PrP.
At Wandsworth we pride ourselves on the quality of our financial management. As our new Deputy Chief Accountant, you’ll not only make full use of your technical accounting skills, you’ll have influence at senior levels.
This post has specific responsibility for a team of staff dealing with corporate accounting and budget issues, and insurance. The post would suit a qualified accountant (preferably CIPFA) with local authority accounting experience and will allow ambitious candidates to improve their technical expertise. The ability to meet deadlines is essential as well as having the skills to undertake technical accounting functions, coordinates the closure of the accounts, and liaise with external auditors. The role coordinates production of the Council’s budget book and Council Tax information leaflet, is responsible for Collection Fund accounting and management of insurance arrangements.
Candidates will need an organised work approach, good analytical skills to interpret technical guidance and sound IT skills.
There may potentially be a further amount payable for additional duties relating to the North East Surrey Crematorium Board.
