The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is an independent body that protects the health and well-being of the UK population. The Agency plays a critical role in protecting people from infectious diseases and in preventing harm when hazards involving chemicals, poisons or radiation occur. We also prepare for new and emerging biological, chemical and radiation threats.
Internal audit is delivered by an in-house team based at Colindale, which provides assurance on the Agency’s risk management, control and governance processes. The scope of work covers “conventional” finance and corporate support services as well as a unique mix of other activities such as surveillance, research & development, emergency preparedness/response, business development, bio-security, bio-safety and information governance. The team also undertakes ad-hoc advisory, project assurance, counter-fraud and investigation work. Some travel will be required to other HPA sites across the United Kingdom.
For the role of Senior Internal Auditor, we are looking for a professionally qualified internal auditor (IIA or CCAB) with at least 4 years’ practical internal audit experience. You will be proficient in the execution of risk-based audits and will have lead audits covering a wide range of different issues.
For both roles, you will have excellent communication, numerical and analytical skills. You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and results driven. Critically, you will be highly adaptable and capable of applying your technical knowledge and experience to unfamiliar operations and activities.
