The Greater London Authority (GLA) is changing from being a strategic authority to one which also delivers key housing and economic regeneration functions for Londoners. The GLA is at the centre of innovative developments in local government finance, such as Enterprise Zones and a bond issuance programme. The finance team at the GLA needs to recruit to a number of new roles to meet these new responsibilities.
The permanent Accountant position will assist the Chief Accountant in closing the GLA’s accounts, particularly its complex group accounts. He / she will also client some of the GLA’s outsourced exchequer functions. The successful candidate is likely to be qualified accountant with a strong technical knowledge of accounting issues and relevant recent experience in the
closing of accounts.
The fixed term contract for an Accountant for a year will provide financial advice and support to the GLA’s Directorates. The role will involve high level interaction with senior officers in the Authority and the person will exercise a high degree of autonomy. The successful candidate is likely to be qualified accountant with significant experience of providing high level management accounting advice and support.
