A challenging opportunity for a talented individual has arisen to work in a senior finance role at a Unitary Council on the South Coast of Devon supporting a wide, varied and interesting range of council services for the three towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

Torbay, like many Councils, is facing difficult financial times. We are looking for a passionate individual to lead the Council’s financial support to services and to provide a constructive, but robust, challenge to ensure that the Council delivers the best services possible within the funding available.

You will be focussed on the continuation of the Council’s achievements in increasing its income, supporting ongoing changes in the delivery of services and seeking efficiencies. In particular you will have a key role in the maximisation of council tax and business rates income.

As this post is a Deputy Head of Finance role you will be a chartered accountant and will have experience of working with elected members, senior Council officers and key Council partners including those in health, local government and the private sector. A market supplement may be considered depending on experience.
