We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated finance professional to provide financial advice and support for the Housing and Communities Directorate. As a part qualified accountant actively studying towards full qualification (or fully qualified), you will have a passion for providing high quality financial support to services.
In this pivotal role, you will lead in all aspects of the finance service for the Directorate, including the production of budget monitoring reports, closure of accounts as well as budget setting and financial planning. The Housing and Communities Directorate includes the Council’s Housing Revenue Account, which provides for the management of around 9,000 homes.
The Council has ambitious plans for regeneration and housing, including investing in Town Centre’s and its exciting Affordable Housing Programme. The role will include working closely with service managers to provide financial advice on the Council’s Affordable Housing Programme, and support longer term financial planning and strategy.
You will have an understanding of local government and the environment in which it operates, and the ability and confidence to work strategically. You will also need to be a dynamic and highly motivated individual who can work effectively with managers at all levels with the confidence to present and provide advice to senior managers and other stakeholders.
The Council offers a number of benefits to employees, including free parking, a generous annual leave entitlement, a career average pension scheme and flexible working arrangements. The role is based within Welwyn Garden City, with strong transport links to other towns and cities, being in close proximity to the train station and the A1 (M) and A414.
