Capital Strategy Accountant

We are seeking a Capital Strategy Accountant to support the projections of the Council’s capital programmes, ensuring that technical rules and regulations that govern local authority capital funding are understood and implemented. You will support the Capital Strategy Advisor to coordinate and deliver the medium-term and annual capital review budget setting processes and accounts closing.
Alongside this, you will maintain an engaging and proactive relationship with key stakeholders across the business and lead on the provision of relevant statutory returns, and support enhancements to the regulatory framework for capital. This role plays a crucial role in implementing strategies and programmes to improve the Council’s use of resources and initiatives and deliver value for money services.
To be successful in this role, you will be part qualified in CCAB or have an equivalent professional qualification, with the ability to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgement.
You will have expert knowledge and understanding of financial planning, management and financial frameworks in a large organisation – preferably local government
You will demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, being able to explain complex and legislative frameworks that apply to local government finance in a clear and concise manner.
The ability to build effective and productive working relationships with colleagues across the Council and demonstrate personal commitment to providing service delivery improvements is essential to the role.
