We are looking for a Senior Finance Technician to join our VAT/Corporate Team.

About the role:

Primarily you will be part of a small team dealing with all aspects of the Council's VAT. This will include the provision of VAT advice to non-financial managers, reviewing and quality checking the VAT data on the Council's general ledger and helping with the preparation of the monthly VAT return to HMRC.

You will also be part of a larger team dealing with the Council's Corporate Financial processes of Budget Setting, Budget Monitoring, Government returns and Bank Reconciliation. In addition to this you will play a role in the preparation of the Council's statement of accounts.

About you:

Are you a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (or equivalent)?

We are looking for someone who has the ability to work under pressure to tight timescales who is able to work on their own initiative with minimum support.  We need someone who will be able to clearly communicate to a variety of people. For example, HMRC, School Headteachers/Bursurs and Budget Holders. Therefore you will need to be show confidence in giving out advice.
