Chair, International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board

An exceptional individual and influential leader is sought as the next Chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) for a renewable three-year term, commencing January 1, 2019.

The IAASB Chair:

  • leads the IAASB’s strategic direction and facilitate the consultative processes that underpin its credibility, standards, and activities;
  • acts as the primary IAASB spokesperson, engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders and promoting International Standards on Auditing adoption worldwide; and
  • develops and maintains effective relationships with international oversight authorities and regulatory bodies, national standard setters, investor and preparer communicates, audit firms, and other key stakeholders.

In addition, the Chair will guide the IAASB through any transitional period and change implementation arising from IAASB reforms.

Among other professional skills, the successful candidate should have:

  • strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills in order to keep the IAASB operating efficiently and result-oriented;
  • a track record of leadership and change management in a senior level role and significant experience with agenda-setting and strategy formulation (experience does not necessarily need to be within the audit profession);
  • the ability to lead and build consensus within the multi-national and multi-stakeholder environment the IAASB operates;
  • the ability to mobilize volunteer members’ resources in the board’s work and outreach activities.
