Business Partner - Local Government
Allen Lane are currently working with a London local authority to recruit a Business Partner to play a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of financial advice for their specified service area. This will include responsibility for a service budget of up to £1m and providing financial management advice to service managers with budget responsibility of up to £200m.
These posts will be challenging and tenacity and strong people management skills will be required as the successful candidate will have to challenge the status quo and work in partnership with services to develop new delivery models to ensure significant cost savings.
As such, key objectives include;
- Proactively lead the financial advice and support within the business partnering function to deliver savings and maximise service outcomes for residents
- Identify areas of weak financial management, risks and pressures and work with service areas to improve them
- Ensure financial information is relevant, balanced and is received by decision makers at the appropriate level and in the appropriate form
- Lead, manage and motivate staff through excellent communication, support and development
The successful candidate must be CCAB qualified and have a body of both theoretical and practical knowledge. This will be key in supporting the council’s leadership at all levels and developing a strategic and workable response to the financial challenges the council faces. Although not essential, previous experience within a local authority at this level would be a strong advantage.
