At the moment we are looking for an experienced: LeiterIn Finanz-/Rechnungswesen und Controlling (w/m) Head of Finance and Controlling (f/m) - Full Time (40 hours/week)

WVPU is seeking a strategic and goal-oriented individual responsible for the finance and controlling aspects of the university, driving financial planning by analyzing its performance. This position is expected to develop and implement finance and controlling strategies, policies, procedures and instruments to support reaching the goals of the university. The position holder reports directly to the Office of the Director and is a member of the Executive Board.

Key responsibilities:

  • Steering of strategic core projects and their implementation
  • Budgetary planning
  • Prepare month-end and year-end closures
  • Ensure that all the company`s financial and controlling practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Supervise the team in the facilitation of financial day-to-day operations in accounting and controlling
  • Prepare and liaise with external auditing services
  • Update, implement and further develop financial/controlling policies and procedures
  • Secure relevant communication with the parent university in St. Louis


  • Master’s degree from an accredited university (Business Administration or related field), relevant certification (Bilanzbuchhaltung) is a plus


  • Proven work experience as Head of Finance
  • Experience in an international environment


  • Thorough understanding of business principles and practices
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of accounting, controlling management
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both German (native/C2) and English
  • IT skills (MS Office), ERP systems

The applicant must have the legal right to work in Austria. The yearly gross salary on a full-time basis (40 hours/week, All-In) for this position is a minimum of € 56.000, - gross p.a. The actual annual salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.
