Head of Category Management
Westminster is the most exciting corner of one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Home to internationally-famous shopping destinations such as Regent Street and Bond Street, plus tourist hotspots including Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and China Town, there’s nowhere on earth quite like it.
We are now seeking a goal-motivated individual who shares our passion for regeneration projects. Leading the development and implementation of important category plans such as the proposed pedestrianisation of Oxford Street and the long-term transformation of Church Street (which will result in 1,750 new homes and a revamped street market culture including 220 stalls), this is a unique opportunity to set the standards and pace of our work.
As Head of Category Management you will make a positive impact on public services including Waste and Parking, and help the Council to deliver on the drive for cleaner streets. Taking accountability for Procurement Programmes with spend ranging from £100million to £250million, you will collaborate with a range of important stakeholders including TfL, the GLA and CIPS. Maximising the commercial potential from these contracts, you will work closely with the senior leadership team to manage overall commercial risk, quality and functionality, plus you will drive creativity to ensure these projects remain cutting edge.
This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation within the Council. Acting as an ambassador for the team, both internally and beyond, you will be a natural leader with outstanding communication skills. With a background in the construction industry or asset management, you will be confident managing a team of around 15, and taking the lead on problem solving. We’ll expect you to have experience of managing complex contractual arrangements, and you will have a positive track record of delivering procurement programmes at a senior level, using project management techniques.
If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens and an important role offering you the opportunity to transform lives.
As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen to work in an agile environment with flexible conditions.
