A vacancy has arisen in the Capital Accountancy team of the Council’s Finance and ICT Division.
We are looking for a qualified accountant with knowledge and experience of capital accounting and fixed assets, preferably within local government, together with some knowledge of SAP finance modules.
The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. The job itself will need excellent analytical skills, a strong eye for detail, but still able to recognise the ‘bigger picture’, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
The Council has assets of approximately £2 billion, and a key part of the role is to support the Finance Manager in delivering the final accounts, accurately and on time. You will lead on the implementation of changes to accounting standards relating to Capital, and also on the developments and improvements to various aspects of the Council’s finance system. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in an interesting and challenging area of local government accounting.
