Head of Finance: Adult Social Care and Health
This is a unique opportunity with great scope to create an impressive professional legacy. As a Head of Finance at Orbis, you will take a pivotal role at one of the south east’s most significant financial shared service providers. At a time of exciting change, you will influence its future.
Orbis is an innovative and highly successful partnership between East Sussex County Council, Sussex County Council, and Brighton and Hove City Council. Delivering all business support functions, across the three councils, Orbis is a compelling and customer-focused model.
Enjoying considerable autonomy and influence at the operational level, you will relish the challenge of developing the partnership model further. Making a major contribution to the Orbis change agenda, you will seize opportunities to ensure we add greater value to our partners. You will be integral to developing future-ready finance services reflecting the best commercial principles.
First and foremost, you will play a vital part in developing a significant Accountable Care Organisation. Leading a team delivering essential strategic financial input to Adult Social Care and Public Health stakeholders in East Sussex, you will help to strengthen integrated approaches to health and social care services across the region. Your work will change lives for the better.
There has never been a better moment for you to join Orbis. A recent restructure of our shared finance leadership and management team now provides a firm platform to build further success. You will be at the very forefront of the best of shared service delivery in Local Government.
The scope of your achievements will be broad. Helping us to create even more efficient ways to deliver financial support services to diverse customers, you will play a part in enabling Orbis to grow beyond our founding partners. With you in a leading role, we will rival private providers.
In return, you will enjoy the advantage of excellent public sector benefits. Joining our supportive team, you will benefit from opportunities for flexible or agile working to help you get the best work/life balance. Orbis is not a heavily hierarchical organisation, so you will find it a perfect place in which to thrive. Your achievements can open doors to progress and explore fresh challenges.
Together with an accountancy qualification (preferably CIPFA) and full membership of a professional body such as CCAB or CIMA, you have experience of providing sound financial management. Knowledge of Local Government finance, business planning and performance management is vital. Experience of leading on partnership working would be an advantage.
Equally as important as your technical financial skills will be your flair for leadership. A motivational manager of people, you have a demonstrable talent for communication. You know just how to engage with people across a large, diverse and politically sensitive organisation - from explaining complex finance strategy to non-experts, to influencing decisions at a senior level.
