We’re looking for a highly experienced Local Authority accountant with significant recent experience in Year End accounting, specifically with expertise in Capital. The assignment offers a good challenge in an enjoyable working environment during the busy close down period over the next six months.
With a stable team in place but a vacancy arising following a promotion, extra support is needed during this year end. The emphasis of work for the incoming accountant will be capital, an area requiring strong technical knowledge of Council accounting rules and a through knowledge of how capital assets are accounted for and allocated. You’ll need to have a good understanding of how fixed assets are assessed and presented in the accounts; experience within the area of valuations; and sound experience of depreciation and how to account for it.
While your capital skills and experience are the most important element to this role, the right candidate may well bring wider close-down experience. If that is the case then you can expect to get involved in a variety of tasks to support the close down process, either pitching in with the key areas or providing advice, mentoring or support for the rest of the team.
We’re looking either for an experienced interim specialising in corporate and financial accounting, or potentially an experienced financial accountant with council experience interested in starting in, or returning to, contracting. As well as technical competency, you’ll need to be proactive and used to working within a closely-knit team. As it will be covering an existing post, the role will be within the IR35 rules.
If you have the recent experience needed to lead the capital aspects of closedown with minimal supervision, then we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
