Energy Saving Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and dynamic Commercial Manager to join the Local Energy Scotland team delivering the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).
CARES has successfully supported communities to develop, own and operate renewable energy projects and this pivotal new role will see our successful candidate help support the transition to new models of community energy and increase expertise in the team for more commercially complex projects.
Your priorities within this role will see you take the lead on the further development and delivery of current models and on identifying new business/delivery models. You will also oversee CARES project appraisals, including evaluating the commercial strength of new project applications and reviewing commercial arrangements for projects being funded.
You will evaluate revenue streams and review financial viability, plus provide ongoing support for applicants through development, construction and operation. Identifying and creating new opportunities for communities to invest in renewable energy or local energy systems is also a key element of the role.
To secure this exciting opportunity
A dynamic and highly motivated individual with impressive commercial acumen, you will possess in-depth knowledge of obtaining finance for infrastructure projects, undertaking commercial/financial due diligence and taking projects to a financial close. You will be an outstanding communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, whose collaborative and strategic approach will be integral to delivering projects successfully.
Experience and knowledge of the energy sector, including the energy supply market and energy systems market, and of financing, refinancing and legal models for projects would be an advantage.
