Be where it all happens.

Based in the heart of the Capital, we are seeking a leading edge Finance Manager in our Public Health Finance Team. You will certainly need to be a qualified accountant, with a wide understanding if strategic financial planning coupled with good commercial acumen. You should have a good working knowledge of project, programme and change management techniques, all underpinned by effective financial management.

For a talented Finance Manager, it is an amazing challenge and an incredible opportunity. Help build a best-in-class service and we will give you the training and development to build an impressive career.

We are looking for leading-edge financial and commercial management, supported by robust analysis. You will make sure that is the case by championing best practice and a culture of high performance. At the same time, you will enhance your skills, gaining valuable experience.

Specifically, you will:

  • Be a partner to service managers and help them deliver their financial and operational responsibilities
  • Provide a best-in-class financial service, tackling internal improvement programmes
  • Help us to transform and navigate our medium-term financial challenges by providing sound, strategic advice
  • Support the closure of accounts for relevant teams; check income and expenditure accounts are accurate; and see that balance sheets are reconciled
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the service and find practical solutions to problems.

CCAB or CIMA-qualified (or equivalent), you will be a capable Finance Manager who has led a large function before. When it comes to providing high-level guidance, you have tried and trusted skills. You can explain complex matters clearly to non-financial experts and give motivation to teams. You can also forge relationships with senior figures within and outside the Council. If you are also degree-educated (or equivalent), with knowledge of local government issues, you could be part of a true ‘City for All’.

If you have the drive and determination to succeed, if you are as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work.

Closing Date: 10th of December 2017
