Senior Financial Accountant
A Local Authority in Essex currently has a need for an Interim Senior Financial Accountant to take an active hands on role with the closure of the accounts.
As the Senior Financial Accountant you will be working closely with the Chief Accountant to ensure the accounts are closed on time in readiness for audit.
The Council has an excellent record of producing high quality accounts, with glowing reports from the External Auditors. My client is looking to maintain this high standard and excellent relationship with the Auditors
Reporting to the Chief Accountant the post will be responsible for interpreting financial standards, producing briefing papers to the Chief Accountant and the external auditors on specific accounting issues, producing the statement of accounts, ensuring working papers are produced to a high standard and managing the relationship with external auditors. You will also have day to day responsibility for the management of two assistant accountants.
You will be CCAB qualified and have extensive experience of closure of accounts, within a Local Government setting and experience of people management and working with senior management and members.
You will have the ability to prioritise busy annual cycles of workload and to coordinate the work of finance officers across divisions, be comfortable to work under pressure and have a wide understanding of the SORP, IFRS and other accounting standards applicable to a local authority.
