Head of Finance (Section 151 Officer)
Suffolk is a unique county. With a mix of large towns, beautiful coastal villages and rural communities, Suffolk has an individual culture with a strong sense of place and community. As a council, Suffolk has an impressive record of performance, achievement and innovation. A strong leader is required to head all areas of finance, fulfil the Section 151 Officer obligations on behalf of the county council and be the designated Chief Finance Officer (CIPFA).
As a member of the Corporate Management Team, you will work closely with County Councillors to progress the development of the medium-term corporate financial strategy.
You will ensure that activity is co-ordinated across the council to deliver annual revenue and capital budgets in line with the strategic direction. Having already saved £246m since 2011, you will work to close the remaining £56m budget gap by 2021.
You will promote the county council's vision, objectives, and priorities effectively to staff, partners, the public and inspire others by role modelling our organisational values at all times. You will promote and work towards a culture of value for money, outcome based customer focus and continuous improvement.
