We are looking to recruit a Finance Officer to be part of NCC’s Financial Management Team, which provides the budgeting and accounting function to all NCC services. NCC is a large and complex organisation going through a period of significant transformational change following the reduction of funding from central government.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and pro-active team who are looking to make a real difference and support NCC through the change that it needs to make, and to ensure that taxpayers are receiving value for money.

The Financial Management Team supports specific services with the day to day budgeting and accounting requirements of the Council, as well as enabling and supporting significant transformational change projects. The posts are generic and could be assigned to support any NCC service(s) to meet the business need. However, it is expected that it will support Adult Social Services.

You will be an experienced part-qualified accountant with excellent communication skills, able to demonstrate sound financial judgement, able to plan and prioritise effectively, and be able to build constructive working relationships with both financial and non-financial individuals at all levels. You will be expected to provide assistance in developing and maintaining financial systems, work in accordance with accounting standards, and support and challenge Budget Managers as they manage their services and provide outturn forecasts. You will also be required to provide trend analysis of financial and non-financial information, close the accounts within a given specialism, and manage and support Senior Finance Assistants within the team.

For an information discussion regarding this vacancy, please contact Claire Holcroft, Accountant on 01603 222366.

We welcome applications from individuals currently working in other organisations, however we would like to make you aware that priority consideration for this post may be given to current employees who are affected by restructure within the organisation or are in a redeployment position.

Workplace feedback states County Hall is a modern, business-like, bright and smart environment to work in.
